Our Business

We bring 60,000+ skilled Volunteer Professionals and tech founders together to build tech companies whilst helping volunteers gain the experience and skills needed to improve career prospects. SkilledUp Life is a life-companion product where you can dip in and out every time you need to upskill or put newly acquired knowledge into practice. We are governed by our own strict rules to provide a fair playing field.

Our Progress

In August 2020, our Founder & CEO, Manoj Ranaweera built SkilledUp Life over 3 days using a WordPress template and 40+ plugins, soft launched and operated by himself until the first paid team member was recruited. It took 7 to 8 months before we started recruiting our first SkilledUp Lifers. It took 176 days to acquire our first 100 SkilledUp Lifers. With the support of Sri Lankan based XpressJobs, we managed to acquire a total of 1000 volunteers just before the 1st year anniversary.

Since then until 5th of February 2026, we operated the same WordPress product without any product iteration, with held us back many years. During all this time, we gained significant knowledge about how to operate SkilledUp Life and help humans, both gain experience and skills to improve careers, but also to help tech founders build tech companies sustainably.

Version 2 launched on 5th February 2026 after 66 months of going live with Version 1 was built by our own SkilledUp Lifers guided by our Founder with our trusted lead developer Asinsala who has worked alongside Manoj since 2011 on all of his crazy tech startup ideas.

We strongly believe we are doing something good for the world in our own ways.

Our Plan for the Future

Life built by our own volunteers. Right now our primary focus is on sales revenue generation. We are rebuilding our team. We have 15 Volunteer Opportunities published and will publish many more going forward. There are volunteer opportunities in product management, UI/UX design, front-end and back-end development, QA and automations, product marketing, copywriting and content creation, social media, video editing, volunteer talent acquisition, partnerships, recruitment, HR operations, customer success, sales and so many.
