# Mobile Developer (Flutter) Volunteer

## About the Opportunity

### Opportunity Description

**Required Skills & Qualifications:**

- Working knowledge of Flutter and Dart
- Understanding of mobile application fundamentals
- Experience consuming REST APIs
- Ability to follow design specifications and requirements
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Good communication and teamwork abilities

**Must-Haves (non-negotiable):**

- Comfortable with Dart and Flutter fundamentals (widgets, state, navigation).
- Can read and understand existing code before changing it — we have established conventions (e.g BLoC pattern) and need consistency, not a rewrite.
- Able to commit to a regular weekly time — even 4-5 hours/week is fine, but consistency matters more than total hours.
- Responsive on Slack — silence for days at a time is the most common reason volunteer collaborations fall apart.

**Nice-to-Have (Not Mandatory):**

- Experience publishing apps (Play Store / App Store)
- Familiarity with state management (Provider, Riverpod, Bloc, etc.)
- Understanding of mobile performance optimization
- Experience working in Agile teams

### Company Needs

Mobile Developer (Flutter).

**Role Overview:**

We are looking for a Mobile Developer (Flutter) to help build and improve cross-platform mobile applications. This role is suitable for developers who want to deepen their Flutter experience while contributing to real-world products used by actual users. You will collaborate with backend developers, designers, and QA engineers to deliver high-quality mobile solutions.

## What you will do

### Volunteer Activities

**Key Responsibilities:**

- Develop and maintain mobile applications using Flutter
- Implement UI designs and ensure responsive performance
- Integrate backend APIs into mobile applications
- Debug and fix issues across Android and iOS builds
- Participate in sprint planning and technical discussions
- Collaborate with QA to resolve testing feedback
- Ensure code quality and maintainability

**Nice-to-Have (can be learned on the job):**

- Experience with BLoC specifically (vs Provider/Riverpod) — a bonus, not required.
- Familiarity with REST APIs and consuming them via http or dio.
- Some exposure to Git (branches, pull requests, basic conflict resolution)
- Has shipped anything before — a personal project, a tutorial app, a freelance gig. Proof they can finish things matters more than where they learned it

**Soft Skills (arguably more important than technical skill here):**

- Asks questions instead of guessing when something's unclear.
- Doesn't disappear without notice — life happens, just give us a heads-up.
- Open to feedback on code style/conventions without taking it personally.
- Genuinely interested in the project, not just padding a CV — this tends to predict who actually sticks around.

## What you will gain

### Experience and Skills Gained

**Benefits You’ll Gain:**

- Real-world mobile development experience
- Collaboration within a professional engineering environment
- Mentorship and technical growth
- Portfolio-ready contributions
- LinkedIn recommendations.
- CV/Resume testimonials.
- Recognition as a key contributor to Dustid.com.

### Disclaimer

**This is a voluntary position, i.e. there is no direct financial compensation, a promise of future paid work or any taxable benefit in kind.**
